Azerbaijan allocates $24.7m to eliminate damages caused to citizens during war

Azerbaijan has allocated 42 million AZN ($24.7m) to eliminate damages caused to its citizens as a result of the war with Armenia in autumn 2020.

President Ilham Aliyev signed relevant decrees on July 6.

Under the decrees, 30 million manats ($17.6 m) will be spent on the restoration of damaged facilities and the implementation of repair and construction work. The funds will be allocated to the State Committee of Urban Planning and Architecture.

Another 5.2 ($3m) and 5.4 ($3.1m) million manats have been allocated to the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy respectively for the payment of compensations to civilians and to eliminate the damage caused to the civilian population and state-owned vehicles, business entities in Armenian attacks.

Furthermore, 1.4 million manats ($823,000) have been allocated to the Ministry of Agriculture to eliminate the damage inflicted on agriculture (agricultural products, machinery, arable land, livestock, etc.).

Earlier Azerbaijan allocated over AZN 9 million ($5m) to compensate damages to its citizens who suffered during last year’s war and 2.2 billion ($1.3bn) for reconstruction works in its territories liberated from the Armenia occupation.
