13 more Armenians sentenced for subversion against Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan on July 29 sentenced 13 Armenians to six years in jail for committing subversion in its territories following the end of last year’s hostilities.

The convicts were detained in anti-terror operation on December 13.

They violated Azerbaijan’s border on November 26 and 27 after the signing of the trilateral peace deal and took up combat positions in the forest and other areas in the northwestern part of the Hadrut settlement of Khojavand district.

They were found guilty under Criminal Code Articles 214.2.1, 214.2.3 (terrorism committed by a group of people upon prior conspiracy by an organized group or criminal association (criminal organization) by using firearms and items used as weapons), 228.3 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, components for weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices by an organized group), 279.2 (an attack on enterprises, institutions, organizations or individuals as part of armed formations or groups not envisaged by the law) and 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of Azerbaijan by a group of people upon prior conspiracy or by an organized group).

Two more Armenians were sentenced to 15-year-imprionment each for espionage against Azerbaijan on July 29. They were detained in the Lachin corridor on November 11. Thirteen more Armenian armed group members were sentenced to six years in jail on July 23 for border violation and illegal armed possession.

Azerbaijan does not consider as POWs Armenian service who crossed the state border after the November peace deal.
