Armenia’s shooting leaves Azerbaijani soldier injured

Azerbaijan on July 20 said that one of its soldier was injured when Baku’s positions came under fire from Armenian forces.

In a statement, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry said Armenian forces had fired at Azerbaijani positions in Heydarabad settlement in the Sadarak region of the Nakhchivan exclave.

Armenian forces stationed near the Arazdeyen village of the Vedi region had used various caliber weapons to fire at Azerbaijan positions.

A serviceman of the Azerbaijan Army, first lieutenant Badalli Ramal, was wounded in the leg during the attack and taken to hospital.

The ministry said that the Armenian attack was suppressed in response fire and the situation was under Azerbaijani units’ control.

On July 19, the Azerbaijani Defence Minister instructed the army’s command staff to suppress possible provocations of the Armenian armed forces. Analyzing the latest situation in the liberated territories, including on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, the minister stressed that Armenia bears responsibility for the escalation of tension.

Azerbaijan had reported cease-fire violation by Armenia earlier on July 16-17.
