Azerbaijan ranked 40th among 194 countries in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2020 published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
With 89.31 points, the country moved up 15 places, leaving behind neighbouring Georgia (55th place) and Armenia (90th place).
Azerbaijan also ranked third among CIS countries for Global Cybersecurity Index in 2020, followed by Russia and Kazakhstan.
The GCI analyzes the legal, technical, organizational, capacity development and cooperative measures of its member states. The report highlighted that since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, internet traffic had increased by 30% along with an increased recognition of cybersecurity risks.
