Azerbaijani teenager becomes Penn World Scholar

Azerbaijani teenager Reyhan Jamalova who made headlines for her Rainenergy startup three years ago, has opened a new page in her life. She will be joining the University of Pennsylvania as a Penn World Scholar after winning a full scholarship to this Ivy League institution.

Back in 2017, at the age of 15, Reyhan became the youngest female entrepreneur attending the 8th Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) themed ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’ held in India. Ivanka Trump mentioned Reyhan in her speech at the inaugural session of the Summit.Reyhan’s Rainenergy, which is designed to harvest rainwater as a source of electricity, is unique in its nature. She has been listed in “Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia honoree” and “BBC 100 Women honoree” and Holds Presidential Youth award and “2019 TRT World Youth Award”.

Apart from the University of Pennsylvania, other high-ranking universities such as Stanford, Duke, Brown, Amherst College, University of Toronto have also offered scholarships to Reyhan.
