Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) Allahshukur Pashazade has criticized head of the Armenian Church Garegin II for making revanshist statements during the latter’s visit to Khankendi in Nagorno-Karabakh recently.

Pashazade reminded that Garegin II did not support religious leaders’ efforts for a peaceful and just settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict for years, and still continues his activities that undermine peace.

“The [Armenian] church did not propagate the ideas of peace and cooperation; on the contrary, it justified the criminal acts of Armenian political leaders who ignore the decisions of the UN and other international organizations,” Pashazade said.

Stressing that “such attitude does not serve for happiness and welfare of regional nations and foremost of Armenian people,” Pashazade noted that religious leaders must serve for peace, not for conflict.
