Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov has urged the command staff to prepare for Armenian provocation amid attacks on the Azerbaijani positions on the border.
During the meeting held with the military officials on August 2, Hasanov said that given the recent escalation of tension in the border Kalbajar region recently, the army must be ready for and to suppress possible Armenian provocation.
Two Azerbaijani servicemen were injured during the cross-border shooting with Armenian on July 28.
It should be noted that Armenia also violated the cease-fire in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan exclave two days in a row – on August 1-2. The Azerbaijani Army suppressed the attack in response fire and did not suffer any losses.
Hasanov issued a similar order to foil Armenian provocaiton back on July 19 after series of Armenian cease-fire violations on July on 16 and July 17 near Aghdam and Kalbajar regions and Nakhchivan exclave respectively.
