There is no territorial unit called Nagorno-Karabakh ane there is no concept of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani President Ilham said on the Armed Forces Day on June 26.

Addressing a group of military personnel in a ceremony held in Baku’s Gulustan palace, Aliyev reminded that Azerbaijan regained its territories in and around Nagorno-Karabakh during the war with Armenia in autumn 2020.

“The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been resolved. Armenia must accept it and work with us to determine the borders. A working group on delimitation should be established. There must be preparations for a peace agreement,” Aliyev said.

Aliyev said that the war was won at the cost of the lives of the Azerbaijani soldiers as Armenia had built fortifications and six lines of defense in 30 years and the natural terrain of that region was very favorable for Armenian forces.

Speaking about Armenia’s losses in the war, Aliyev stressed that Armenian Army was completely destroyed during the last year’s war.

“There is no Armenian army any longer – 336 tanks were destroyed or taken as spoils of war. Eight S300 installations were destroyed, other anti-aircraft systems were destroyed, artillery pieces were destroyed. In other words, there is no Armenian army any longer,” Aliye said.

The Second Karabakh War waged between September 27 and November 8, saw Azerbaijan regain control over its territories occupied during the war with Armenia in the early 1990s.

The Russian-brokered peace deal signed on November 8, also stipulated the return of Azerbaijan’s Kalabajar, Lachin and Aghdam regions.
