Azerbaijani scholar Danial Mehranfard has won a fellowship award from the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education (AFPE).
He is among 10 gateway awardees for the years 2021 and 2022.
As part of the fellowship, Mehranfard will research Anti-proliferative and Anti-inflammatory effects of the Renin-Angiotensin System Modulators as Novel Therapeutic Agents for Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment.
The study will assess the involvement of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in both normal and abnormal human fibroblast-like synoviocytes physiology.
His mentor in the research is Prof. Dr. Bob Speth.
Born in Iran, Mehranfard is of Azerbaijani descent.
He graduated from College of Pharmacy at Eastern Mediterranean University. He is studying PharmD/MBA at Nova Southeastern University and is a research assistant at NSU College of Pharmacy.
AFPE is a non-profit organization that awards grants and scholarships to researchers and academics in the pharmaceutical sciences so that they may have the resources necessary to conduct novel research projects that will impact the future of healthcare and patient outcomes.
