Azerbaijan sends COVİD-19 aid to four more countries

Azerbaijan has sent AstraZeneca COVİD-19 vaccines to Central Asian republics of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and to Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the humanitarian aid in the fight against pandemic.

Some 40,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines were sent to Kyrgyzstan in mid-July. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev said that the vaccine dozes donated by Azerbaijan will protect the lives and safety of 20,000 Kyrgyzstanis.

Another 50,000 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine were sent to Uzbekistan.The vaccines were delivered by the government delegation headed by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev who visited Uzbekistan on July 16.

Some 40,000 doses of Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) vaccine were sent to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Tajikistan each on July 19 and July 20 respectively.

Azerbaijan has made voluntary contributions to the World Health Organization in the amount of 10 million US dollars since the outbreak of pandemic. It has also provided direct humanitarian and financial assistance to more than 30 countries in their fight with the coronavirus.

Aliyev said on April 6 that Azerbaijan was among the first countries to mobilize global efforts against COVID-19 pandemic.

The Azerbaijani government has allocated $1.1bn from the 2020 budget to fight coronavirus infection.
