Azerbaijan on July 7 created two new economic zones in its territories liberated from the Armenian occupation in last year’s war.
President Aliyev signed a relevant decree “On the New Division of the Azerbaijani Republic’s Regions” on July 7.
The new economic zones – Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur – are addition to the country’s already-existing 12 economic zones.
The Karabakh economic region covers Aghjabadi, Barda, Tartar regions as well as the newly-liberated Aghdam, Fuzuli, Khojali, Khojavand regions and Susha city in Nagorno-Karabakh. Khankandi city that is part of Nagorno-Karabakh but is under the Armenian control has also been included into Karabakh economic region.
The Eastern Zangazur economic region includes the newly-liberated Jabrayil, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Lachin and Zangilan regions.
According to the decree, the creation of the new economic zones has to do with the reconstruction underway in Azerbaijan’s newly-liberated lands that has to be done through a unified program.
