Azerbaijani striker transferred to Legia Warszawa

Poland’s Legia Warszawa football has secured a contract with Azerbaijani striker Mahir Emreli.

Emreli (23), a former striker of Azerbaijan’s Qarabag FC (2015-2021), is one of top players in the Azerbaijani League.

He has been regularly appointed to the national team for four years and has scored four goals in international matches.

He made his debut and scored his first goal for Qarabag in 2015 against a local club, while making his European debut in 2016, in the second qualification round of the UEFA Champions League in which Qarabag scored 2-0 against Luxembourgish F91 Dudelange.

Emreli has played in the UEFA Champions League group stage five times and scored his first European goal against Danish Copenhagen in the play-off round of the  UEFA Champions League 2017-2018 held in Baku.

He has won championship titles in five of the last six seasons and is a former top scorer (2018/19).

Born in Baku, Emreli is in a good physical shape (188 cm tall).
