The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry on June 29 received a group of Azerbaijani war veterans who participated in the Second Karabakh, the ministry reported in its Facebook account today.
The war veterans had gathered outside of the building of the head office of the military personnel in Baku.
They wanted to know why they were not among over 70,000 military servicemen who were awarded on June 24 for the involvement in the liberation of the country’s territories in last year’s war.
After meeting the veterans, the ministry said that relevant tasks have been given to military units in line with the war veterans’ appeal.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on June 24 signed a decree to award dozens of generals, hundreds of colonels and high-ranking servicemen for their participation in the Second Karabakh War.
The servicemen were decorated for “courage and bravery” shown in military operations held in Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Kalbajar, Lachin, Aghdam, Zangilan, Khojavand, Gubadli regions, Sugovushan settlement and Shusha city in autumn 2020.
The ministry today said that the awards to military servicemen was given on June 24 after studying their direct involvement in the military operations in the last year’s war.
